The Hunger Games Movie Makeup Inspired Series: Nightlock

Ahhh those infamous berries!! For the tiny handful of people out there who don’t know what The Hunger Games series or Nightlock is—- The series I have based my makeup looks on is about a good guy (the 12 districts, and Katniss & Peeta in particular) and the bad guy (the Capitol, and President Snow in particular) who are fighting for social justice (Katniss and Peeta basically start a rebellion of the 12 Districts against the Capitol all by ONE ACT)… In the fighting of the Hunger Games it comes down to Katniss & Peeta, and instead of one killing the other they decide to go for mutual suicide- to see if they both die or survive… read the book folks!! BUUUT the way in which they take on this rebellious act is by eating the deadly berries they call “NIGHTLOCK“.

The Hunger Games Movie Makeup Inspired Series: The Bow & Arrows

Thank goodness the BOW & ARROW weapon was put in the hands of an awesome woman…  Katniss’ weapon of choice is something that hasn’t been “cool” since Legolas took down an entire elephant with three arrow in Gondor!  Now that the bow is back it is time to celebrate!! I’d have to say that if I had to choose a weapon (that I could be awesome at…. because I certainly am not one to do well with any sort of violence) I would definitely go for the bow & quiver.  You can shoot from far off, it’s definitely less blood spilling out as opposed to any sort of sword, spear, or knife…  Yup!! The Bow & Arrow look and skill is definitely one to keep in your back pocket!!

The Hunger Games Movie Makeup Inspired Series: PRIMROSE EVERDEEN

So obviously everyone now knows what The Hunger Games are!  And if you don’t– then read the books before you see the movie.  The Hunger Games premiere came out last month and the Hunger Games Books came out in 2008- it’s a 3-part series that has the most crazy plot line I’ve heard in a while…  With such an interesting concept, it needed eccentric characters.  And some “normal”-ish lovable ones.  This is the inspiration for my first of the Hunger Games series: Primrose Everdeen.

Mermaid Makeup: The BeShelled Femme or The Scaled Goddess

Mermaid Makeup: The BeShelled Femme or The Scaled Goddess

Mermaid makeup is PHENOMENAL fun because there are so many different ways to create the look.  There are sea mermaids, lagoon kind of mossy green mermaids, and endless colours and decor to choose from!!

This is brainstorm/mock up is actually for someone who contacted me and asked for me to do the makeup of 3 amazing ladies who are celebrating one of the sister’s birthday in March!!  They are having a wonderful “Under the Sea” theme and the 2 sisters are mermaid princesses and the birthday sister is the mermaid queen!!  I love this idea & not only have i come up with some different makeup looks, but I’ve also thought about tiara and crown ideas- all made from headbands, shells, starfish, and pearls!!  So, I did 2 different looks- one on either side of my face- that can be changed in colours, moved around in placement, and have ENDLESS options!!
