The Hunger Games Movie Makeup Inspired Series: Peeta’s Camo

 Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

And in honor of memorial day- I have tweaked the makeup look for today ūüôā

Originally I was going to do “Peeta’s Cakes”. ¬†I thought I would do blending of pinks, purples, and reds- classic cupcake colours, and perfect for our little baker’s makeup look. ¬†But everything I tried just didn’t hit me right; it wasn’t¬†¬†exactly¬†what I was looking for. ¬†So, walking around I saw this clock my mom had made of a sunset, and instead of numbers around the face, she spelled the numbers. ¬†It made me think about:

Hunger Games: Catching Fire Book 2

The Hunger Game’s second book takes place on an island that is¬†invisibly split into 12 different sections. ¬†Each time the clock strikes an hour- it sets off whatever obstacle¬†occurs¬†within that hour range.¬†¬†Peeta never had to disguise himself in this book, but in the first one he painted himself to blend in with the rocks, mud, and water. ¬†So, in light of Peeta’s¬†mad baker’s painting skills, and in honor of Memorial Day– I switched up our look for the day to be “PEETA’S CAMO”; a tropical island sunset mask.

The Hunger Games Movie Makeup Inspired Series: AVOX

I will admit that I do have a vivid imagination… however, when I saw the Avox girl in Hunger Games movies I was very upset. ¬†After reading so much about the Capitol style (what actual runways are calling “Capitol Couture”- how fantastic is that?!), and imagining what all of these people look like… The movie¬†seriously¬†warped what I had envisioned as an Avox. ¬†With people in the capitol dying their skin shades of blue, transforming their bodies into a felines so much so that they will have a TAIL– I figured their “help” (a.k.a. slaves) would be dressed up as well. ¬†Needless to say— when I pictured an Avox girl… this is what my mind saw!!

Smokey Narrow Crease Cut Makeup Tutorial

The Crease Cut

There are a couple of handfuls of ways to do makeup!! ¬†There are many eyeshadow shapes, blending methods, and colour schemes… ¬†Everyone of course has their own favourite method, shape, and look- and one that I am quite fond of is the crease cut.

Although this look seems to be a bit more dramatic and/or formal, it can be toned down to wear during the daytime. ¬†The way to do that is to NARROW the crease!! ¬†So, this look is a daytime look, perfect for school or a lunch date with your mom :]. Now, the crease cut look is when you BOLDLY¬†create a line of colour that¬†separates¬†the soft colour on your lid from the harsh contrasting colour that you’ve popped into your crease [where your eyelid folds when you look straight]. ¬†Crease cutting is a way to make your eyes seem longer and tilted.

Smokey Narrow Cut Crease Tutorial

My tools :]

Start off by padding on your NYX Eyeshadow Base all over you eyelid.

Pick out a shadow that is your skin tone colour [the colour above is what I used from BH Cosmetics 3rd Edition palette] and pad it in across your eyelid, but do not go above your crease!

The next colour you are going to use is one that is a medium brown colour. ¬†You want it to be darker than the skin tone colour, but not the darkest brown… ¬†You want the 2 browns to be able to blend nicely. ¬†You can just use your finger for this- you are going to pad it into the outer v of your eye [the outer corner].

NEXT, take a small pencil brush [very small tip that makes intricate work easier] and a black eyeshadow [I used an unknown palette that has a nice matte black…]. You are going to create a wing shape that jets out from the corner of your eye, come down a bit, and then follows your crease in ALMOST to the inner v.

Now take the deepest brown you have [I used “EMBARK” from MAC] and a fluffy dome brush [or a tapering blending brush, that works too] and work that colour into the black and on top of it. ¬†You want it to blend realllllly well so harsh lines disappear . ¬†In fact, looking at my zoomed in pictures I could have done some more blending on the inner v area… But c’est la vie.

Once the deep brown is blended in, take a light brown colour [that is darker than the skin tone eyeshadow you used first], and pop it ABOVE.  This will help create a nice gradual flow of colour.

Take a NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil and draw a dot below your eyebrow bone and on the outside of your tear duct.  Then, smooth it out and blend it in.  Once that is done, use a nice cream-matte colour and fill in all the areas.  [See picture to really understand where the locations are- but it is right bellow the outer most part of your eyebrow & downward.  Just right outside your tear duct]

Now put on your eyeliner. ¬†Make sure to wing it out on top [and follow the line already created], and pop some into your waterline on the top and bottom, if you can. ¬†I know some people can only get their bottom waterline because otherwise they tear up… So just do what you can :]

Now use that small pencil brush again and pop all the colours you used UNDER your waterline.  Start at the outer v and go in this order: black, deep brow, light brown, cream colour.

Pop on your marcara or falsies!

And fill in your brows if you haven’t yet!!

For the rest of the face- I did contouring work because I wanted my bone structure to really POP!! ¬†Now I don’t have¬†phenomenal bone structure to begin with [thanks a lot genetics…]¬†so I create it with BH Cosmetics contouring palette. ¬†In the picture above I put on the darker brown colour and didn’t blend it in so you can see where I put it for this look.

You can put the darker brown right below the apples of your cheeks. ¬†So when you make the “fish face”, instead of putting the colour above where you cheeks indent, you actually want to put the contouring brown IN the indent!! ¬†You also want to put it below your chin, but where your chin and neck meet [so kind of a place naturally hidden because it faces downward]. ¬†And then lastly, put the darker brown colour along your hair line on your forehead.

NOW, you’ll use the lighter highlighter colour from the palette and put it in the center of your forehead, the apples of your cheeks, your chin, and the sides of your nose.

NOW BLEND!!

Lastly, for my lips I used NYX Lipliner “CORAL” and NYX Lipstick “PUMPKIN PIE”

London’s Christmas BH Cosmetics Haul: 120 Palettes & More

London’s Christmas BH Cosmetics Haul

For Christmas this year my grandmother-in-law gave me money to spend on whatever I wished… ¬†Which was great because it’s been a really long time since I had money to BURN!!

So thanks to day-after Christmas sales I was able to get 2 things I have been wanting for a really long time!!

1.) Friends DVD Box Set- which I had in high school, but it was some rip off Japanese remake that I actually WORE OUT… Like they stopped playing because I had¬†literally¬†played them too many times. ¬†So, now I have a legit copy!!

ANNNNNND…

2.) A 120 palette!!

BH Cosmetics 120 Palette & More

Rumor has it [so don’t quote me on this… it’s just what my research on Google has showed me] that ANY 120 palettes are actually made from an outside¬†manufacture¬†that then sells the palettes to cosmetic companies like BH Cosmetics, Coastal Scents, Manly, ect… ¬†People try and compare Company X’s palettes versus Company Y’s for a quality comparrison- but whenever you read the reviews, it’s pretty obvious that both palettes are pretty much the same quality… BECAUSE they all come from a manufacturer!!

So, if you’re pretty much getting the same product no matter where you go- then your purchase of these items is based off of whichever company you like more. ¬†I based this decision off of PRICE!! Plus, I had heard of BH Cosmetics first, and so I had researched it longer… So I felt some sort of pull with them.

However, BH Cosmetics is also wonderful because they usually have SALES going on!! ¬†Register with them online and they’ll send you notifications of when they sales are going on. ¬†I waited a couple of months to watch sale prices and see what was a reasonable offer. ¬†I ended up purchasing my AMAZING HAUL during their LAST OF THE YEAR Count Down- where select palettes were 50% OFF!! ¬†It was spectacular!!

TOP Makeup Products: BH Cosmetics HAUL!!

It has ARRIVED!! Woot Woot!!

The 120 Palette’s:

I purchased palettes 1, 2, and 3.

This is the outside casing of the 120 Color Palettes- a nice glossy 9″x6″ hard case.

This palette [1st Edition] has an interesting spotted row on the right hand side.  The colours are brilliantly matched and create such an amazing effect.

The palettes also feature a purple ribbon that is like a bookmark.  It sticks out from the bottom so that you can easily lift the plates out of the case.

The way the case works is that there are  TWO plates in there that are stacked on top of each other.    This is a wonderful feature because it makes it so that the case is 1/2 the size [taking up less of mine and your counter space], while we still get all the gorgeous colours!!

I don’t have any sort of review for these palette yet¬†because¬†I obviously just¬†got them. ¬†However, I have done LOTS of research on the products and I highly suggest YOU going and taking a look at what BH Cosmetics has to offer!! ¬†And check out the sales they have going on AND coming up.
