Nails, Nails, Nails…. Arizon Tea Nails, Heart Nails, Cheetah Nails!!

Nail Art for the Not So Talented….

Well practice, practice, practice makes perfect people!!  over the past couple of months I have been trying to do a new nail design every other Saturday in order to train my hands to be steady.  I will be the first to tell you how much I am really no good at fine detail or keeping a steady hand, especially when it comes to doing my right hand!  I am DEFINITELY NOT ambidextrous…  But after a couple of months of practice– there is definitely a noticeable difference in what I am capable of doing!  SO keep hope people, and just keep painting.

Colorful Cheetah Nail Design (Free Hand!!)

Arizona Tea Nail Design (little blurry… but you get the idea!)

With the last two nail pictures- I created my own nail colours!!  For the colourful cheetah nails I wanted a soft baby orange & I only had a burnt orange colour.  So, it was time to get creative!  I mixed that orange with a white and yellow until I got the perfect colour I was searching for.  Then the Arizona Tea nails obviously is a very specific colour of seafoam green…  So I had to mix a teal colour with white and a tad bit of lime green.  When mixing the colours the polish doesn’t stay wet for a while- it gets tacky pretty quickly.  So, if you choose to do this- work fast!!  But it is a great way to get the colour you want without having to pay for a WHOLE BOTTLE of the stuff!!

Make a WISH this 2012: A New Years Dandelion Nail Design

MAKE A WISH: Dandelion Nail Design

The Inspiration & The Look:

Dandelion Nail Art Tutorial:

Start by painting your fingers whatever background colour you want!! I used JESSE’S GIRL nail polish from the JulieG collection called “GIRLS NIGHT OUT“.  It’s a gorgeous blue that you’ll never get tired of!!  Plus, this colour allowed the nail polish colours of the dandelion to really POP!!

From there take a green nail polish [a lighter green preferably] & start from the corner of your nail & create a curved line upwards.  Then draw a small rounded-edge-triangle on top [see picture for reiteration].

Now for the dandelion’s white fly-away pieces- you can use a toothpick, pencil tip, or the best product for this task: Migi Nail Art pens [which is what I use]!!  All you have to do is create dashes coming from the green triangle you drew!  The messier it looks the better… so don’t worry- you can’t screw it up :]

Then create the little dashes throughout the rest of your fingernails.  You can either recreate this on your other hand OR just do only dashes.  Make it so that some nails have fewer dashes and other nails have clusters of them!!

This look is really simple & darling!! Good luck and let me know how it goes 😀

Et c’est fin!!

Blue Morpho-Butterfly Nail Tutorial: Inspire a Change in Destiny!!

Blue Morpho-Butterfly Nail Tutorial- inspired by my tattoo’s anniversary!

Morning Rant….

Well, my morning started off all wrong…  I workout every Tue/Thurs/Sat morning [with my AMAZING all ladies workout group!!], but this morning I woke up- got dressed- had my green tea with a pre-workout energy powder- then walked out to my car to find that it was dead!!  And I live in an apartment building so naturally cars were along side of me, so even if I did wake my hubby up to come jumpstart me- he couldn’t because there was no way to get his hood next to mine!! So, since there is no chance of me sleeping this morning due to me being ready and excited for my workout which will not happen till Saturday… I decided to do a nail tutorial for you all!!

Morpho Legend and Symbolism….

This tutorial is inspired by my back piece that I have now had for 2 years!!! Wow time flies….  I have 5 Morpho-Butterflies that fly up my back, one for each of the women in my family [grandma, mother, sister, sister, and myself].  The legend of the Morpho-Butterfly is that- if you are lucky enough to see one, your destiny will be changed!!  I decided to make my butterflies Morpho because all the women in my family are fiercely independent, ridiculously opinionated [sometimes shamefully so…], and some of the strongest women I know…  My life is completely shaped by them, and they have all changed my destiny.  I hope that I will be a Morpho is someone’s life too.

Supplies You’ll Need:

-Nail Growth Miracle [WalMart]

-Jesse’s Girl JulieG Collection [RiteAid]

-Migi Nail Art Pens [MigiNailArt]

-Revlon Acrylic Nail Hard Top Coat [Target]

STEP 1: Put on your base coat- the Nail Growth Miracle strengthener.  This will no only act as a base coat, holding all of your nail art in place, but will also increase the health of your nails.  Keep them firm and growing!

STEP 2: Put on a layer of Jesse’s Girl blue nail polish.  This nail polish is called “Girls Night Out” and it is from the JulieG Collection!!  Julie has a great line of nail polish colours out and the quality is great- especially for such a great price!  You can find these items at Rite-Aid.

STEP 3: With your black Migi pen draw a diagonal line on the tips of all of your finger nails, and fill it in.  I find that it is best to look at a picture of the end product so that you know what each step is aiming to be!!

STEP 4: Now from the base of the LEFT of your nail draw a curving line up till about a quarter the way up the other side of your nail, like so…

STEP 5: Draw 3 lines from the bottom line to the top diagonal, then round out the edges so the negative space looks more oval-like.

STEP 6: Let everything dry for about 15 minutes and then come back to put the finishing touches on.  Take your white Migi pen and create dots in random order on the top diagonal.

STEP 7: Let your masterpiece set for another 20 minutes- just to be safe- and then proceed with your top coat!!

I hope you will be inspired by your Blue Morpho nails to positively change the destiny of someone you today- or even just your own!!

Halloween Nail Art Designs without Nail Salon Prices

Seasonal Spike in Nail Art Demand-

Nail salons apparently have booking business around Prom & Formal season, Wedding season, and… who knew- but Halloween!!  I was completely shocked to find out that ladies & girls go in for Halloween nail art designs!!  Buuut I suppose  a Mother-Daughter day should consist of some fun seasonal girl-time.

So- instead of going and paying nail salon prices, and being temped with acrylic and gel nails [which tare up your nail beds for weeks, if not months!!]- stick at home and have some thriftier fun!!

Supplies Needed:

If you don’t have these, here ya go:

Criss-Cross Nail Platelet M57

2 Sided Nail Stamp

Migi Nail Art Set #101

NYX Matte Nail Polish “White”

Jesse’s Girl Nail Polish JulieG Collection “Mermaids Lagoon”

Nail Design Tutorial:

1.) Paint a Base Coat & primary nail polish colour evenly on all nails

2.) Use your KONAD Nail stamp & platelet to create a crisscross pattern on your ring finger- mine is obviously messy & that is okay!!

3.)  Take your BLACK Migi Nail Art Pen and test it on a piece of paper before you use it on your nails!!  Make sure it doesn’t shoot out unexpectedly

4.)  With your Migi Nail Art Pen create a black circle on the lower half of your nail

5.)  Draw 4 legs on each side of the circle all curving downward

6.)  Draw a straight line from the center of your spider up to the top of the nail [this would be a good time to cover up any mistakes you made with the nail stamp, as best you can anyway- it doesn’t make much of a difference!!]

7.) Take your WHITE Migi Nail Art pen & put two white dots, as close as you can to each other without making them connect

8.) Lastly, Use your BLACK Migi Nail Art pen to create 2 black specs- one in each eye!!

and VOILA… Scary Nails!!

Perfect for any family or friend girl time!!
